ViSIT's graph database contains well linked data, mapped in thousands of entities - information units, each belonging to a specific category: Activity, Architecture, Group, Institution, Object, Person, Place, Reference. The software system WissKI was also used for the development. WissKI stands for "Scientific Communication Infrastructure" and is a software system developed cooperatively since 2009, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Institutions such as the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg were involved in the development. The virtual research environment WissKI uses the CIDOC-CRM data model and also enables interface solutions such as those found here.
