The three-dimensional digitization of cultural artefacts and the user-oriented integration of digital representations in the context of digital representation are among ViSIT's core tasks. In addition, adaptable techniques and workflows were developed in the project, which result in a practice-oriented best practice for small to medium-sized museums. The spectrum of objects digitized in ViSIT ranges from selected museum exhibits to small archaeological finds that can reveal a lot of interesting information, when using appropriate methods.
A three-dimensional recording of objects can be done stationary, in a laboratory situation, or directly on site, in the field. Small to medium-sized, transportable artefacts are potential "candidates" for stationary capture. Mobile applications are used for very sensitive objects or those that cannot be transported due to their size or fixed construction.
